The Northern School of Game and Wildlife at Newton Rigg has one of the best ranges of game and wildlife specific courses available anywhere. Our emphasis is on combining practical industry based skills with academic study, which gives students the broadest range of career options. It is made very clear to all of our students that there is more to building a career in the countryside than just training to be a gamekeeper! Although important classroom based work is part of every course, significant periods of ‘Industry’ work placement are included – even in full time college based courses; and practical estate, shoot management and habitat conservation skills are a vital part of all courses.
