Marsdens Game Feeds

Picture
Marsdens Game Feeds have generously supplied feed for our rearing programme for the last 4 years from day-old to release. In return we conduct various feed trials looking at comsumption, protein and growth. The quality of poults produced and released on our shoot is a good indicator of the quality of Marsden's feeds. We have been complimented this year on how well feathered and strong the birds are. Trials have shown that our poults can be up to 100gms heavier than those reared on some other diets.
But Mardens go further than this and currently sponsor our sytudent clay pigeon shooting team and the Game Conference in March. This is a company that genuinely and genorously supports young people  entering the game industry.

Kings Game Cover and Conservation Crops

Picture
The driven partridge and pheasant shoot on our college farm is a very important resource where students gain valuable hands-on experience in running a full shooting programme. Our farm grows some arable crops but is primarily pasture for the sheep and dairy herd. The shoot would not be successful without extensive use of holding crops.
We are very grateful to Kings Game Seeds and Conservation Crops for their advice and reccomendations regarding suitable crops and also for generously supplying seed. The released birds are currently holding well in the game crops and we are looking forward to a good season.

BEC/Osprey Ltd: Game Feeders

Picture
We are delighted that BEC have kindly offered to sponsor us with a selection of pheasant/partridge hoppers and drinkers. We were able to view their wide range of equipment on their stand at the Newark Shooting Show in February and are looking forward to trialing various products on our rearing field and shoot. We have found that hand feeding has been the best method of holding partridge however always with hoppers for back-up. BEC's feeders certainly look and feel robust although the test will be how effective they are for partridge and whether they will stand up to Cumbrian weather and NSG&W students!

Rudgwick Metals Ltd

Following a successful meeting at the British Shooting Show, Stoneleigh, we are pleased to include Rudgwick Metals in our list of sponsors. We are currently trialling one of their automatic feeder units that fits onto a standard feeder and hope to be able to report on this unit in the future.
